What is Church Website Ideas?

By: Jesse Orndorff|Posted in: Website Ideas

I wanted to take time this week to organize my thoughts about what the overall vision is for Church Website Ideas. To be honest, I did not intend for this to become something that would be popular. I have viewed this project as a way for me to express how I feel about church websites and provide some tools to help everyone out. So what is this site all about?

My original idea was to just focus on church websites. That’s it. Nothing else. But after researching articles, getting links for people, and folks on twitter asking me questions, I have to say that this site will be much more than just about church websites. I really want to open up the community here and allow us to explore together what theInternet can provide for churches. I think churches have a huge opportunity to reach their communities in a more effective way, than ever before. That is where this site fits in. For all of us out there who can’t find enough time throughout the day, for those pastors who are looking to connect to more people, for those ministry workers who want to stay on top of all the cool stuff out there, this site is for you.

This week I am releasing the top online tools for churches. Each day I will highlight tools that will help pastors in every aspect of ministry from time management to marketing. I want to start bringing in more tools, tutorials, and freebies as often as possible, but I am only one man. Please understand that this site is done in my spare time, between my real job and my ministry. Because this is a project for me, I want to bring on as many contributors as possible to help me fill in the gaps. Anyone who has articles they would like to write, reviews on the latest Joomla plug-in, tips on design, and anything else you can think of belongs on this site, so please feel free to reach out to me.

With this new vision I am going to add a few changes to the site. First thing you will notice this week, is that I have taken down the Sponsored Links section, and in it’s place I have added a donate to us button. If you find the information on this site useful, feel free to donate to the project, I would love to be able to cover my costs of hosting and other freebies that I have in-store for you all! Second, you will notice I have added a forum section. I didn’t want to make a big push with a lot of forums, but I value your feedback and I want to open up the community in this space, so feel free to visit and make a post! Lastly, I want to help bless your ministry in anyway I can. I think the single biggest thing I can do is to be praying for your ministry! So I have opened up a prayer request alias, please email me at: [email protected] I want to make sure that I put what matters most in front and be in prayer for your ministry as often as you may need it!

As I write this I figure that most people who visit this site will skip over this article. It does not contain any freebies or top 10 lists, but this has outlined for me a clear direction and calling for this ministry that God has given me an opportunity to share with others. I thank anyone who has taken the time to read this, and I want you to know that I want to help bless you and the work you are doing. I know it isn’t easy, I know sometimes it’s not fun, and sometimes we doubt what we are called to do. But know that God will always direct your path!

God bless,

Jesse

This site is a great resource! I’m a US Computer Science graduate who came to Korea to teach English for a few years and I’ve just recently started designing and developing my own websites (with a view to do it as a career in the future).

I’m currently in charge of our church’s website (www.antiochia.org/aicf -> soon to undergo a major redesign into Joomla!). I had felt rather alone in the web design world as I’m the only English-speaker I know of in Korea with a view for web-standards and an interest in this. Additionally, recently I’ve also been considering how the web could benefit churches -> outreach, social networking, etc.

The resources you’ve posted on this site are very encouraging, inspirational, and helps me out a lot! Thanks!

May God truly bless you in your work in this subject.  As one who spends my life discussing what you are talking about here, I can relate and I find your content useful and an asset to the local church.  Keep writing excellent content.
