7 Best Email Marketing Software Apps for Churches

By: Jesse Orndorff|Posted in: Tools & Resources

As a church you have special needs when it comes to marketing. It has to have a large reach, have impact, generate a response, be measurable, and most of all, be affordable. Email marketing is one of the most, if not the, most effective way to reach people. It also carries a much lower cost than your traditional mailer would. In the coming weeks we will be outlining a few ways to generate better email lists and best practices, but for now let’s look at the best email marketing software you can use for your church.

Mail Chimp

Do you have less than 1,000 users on your email list? Do you send less than 6,000 emails a month? If so, you can use Mail Chimp for FREE! Mail Chimp has recently increased it’s Forever Free plan so now you can use their service for free. Also non-profits receive a 15% discount on the service, if you go over the 1,000 person email list.

Campaign Monitor

Simply the best email marketing software for creative people. I have started to adapt Campaign Monitor into my web design business and the user interface is simple, easy-to-use, and was designed with creative people in mind! I have no fears about handing it off to a pastor and letting them run with it! Prices are affordable, starting at only $5 per campaign and 1 cent a message, it is hard to beat.

Vertical Response

Vertical Response is a large company in the email marketing space. They have over half a million users and tons of templates. They have two great pricing structures, one is a pay-as-you-go plan, starting at 1.5 cents per email, or a monthly plan starting at only $10 per month.

Constant Contact

Constant Contact has been around for some time now and they are still one of the largest email marketing companies around. Prices start at only $15 and they include quite a few templates. My only gripe is that the user interface isn’t amazing, and they are always trying to up sell their other services. Good value for the money.

Fire Mail

If your looking for custom email campaigns created look no further! Fire mail is focused on non-profits, giving them the tools they need to reach their users, they also specialize in highly custom email marketing campaigns. Prices are more than the others listed, but if your looking for custom emails, you can’t beat Fire Mail.

Get Response

Get Response is a great service that offers quite a lot to their customers. Social media integration, video emails, and web forms a few features that make this company stand out. Pricing is reasonable and the user interface is well executed. They boast over 300 email templates for their users.

iContact

iContact is an email marketing service that features a large selection of templates and a selection of plug-ins to help grow your email response rates. Their prices are about average for the size of list you get and their user interface works well. Not much on the others, but a good alternative.
